Registered Nurse – Emergency Center

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week


Job Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week contract. The role involves working in a high-volume emergency department with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Larger hospital experience
  • Experience with MEDITECH EMR system
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
    • ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) or NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Clinical Environment & Support

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Charge nurse present
  • Support staff includes nurse aides/paramedics (5-6 per shift), security/patient sitters, respiratory therapists (24/7 dedicated to ER), and pharmacy coverage (on campus 24/7, in department 11 hours/day)
  • Central monitoring techs available for telemetry/monitoring
  • Behavioral health: 6-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric personnel
  • Common patient types: pediatric to geriatric, trauma cases (some neuro trauma transferred out), orthopedic cases (some kept, some transferred), stroke (CVA) center; no burn patients kept onsite

Orientation & Work Culture

  • Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts
  • Nurses responsible for lab draws and IV starts
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
  • Weekend and holiday schedule: every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Auto lunch deductions on evening shifts (1pm–1am)
  • Callout process and completion of orientation requirements (ORT) during week one are strictly enforced

Additional Notes

  • Driver’s license address must be provided with application
  • The department holds ventilated patients in the ER until admission
  • The role requires adherence to specific protocols and expectations set by Emergency Center leadership

This position is ideal for Emergency Room RNs with strong critical care skills, prior travel experience, and proficiency in Meditech EMR, seeking a fast-paced, well-supported hospital environment.
