Cardiac Catheterization RN

Overview

• Travel RN role in the Cath Lab
• 13-week contract
• Day shift
• 4 10-hour shifts per week
• 40 hours per week

Unit Details

• Cath Lab, EP and IR - RN
• 3 rooms and a hybrid OR
• About 15-20 cases per day
• 24/7 call coverage with interventional cardiologist and interventional radiologist

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
• 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Scrub and circulate
• 30-minute call response time

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2-3 years of experience in both IR and cath lab
• Vascular and/or structural heart experience
• Experience with charting systems and equipment used in the unit

Responsibilities

• Circulate cases, including administering medications/sedation and monitoring patients through procedures
• May monitor or scrub if trained to do so

Schedule and Call

• 7-10 days of call per month
• 1 weekend of call per month
• Typically 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday
• Average of 1-2 weeknight call shifts per week

Floating

• Typically does not float to other departments
• Floating may occur as a team nurse or helping hands if census or staffing requires it

Additional Details

• Uses Whitt computer charting
• Cerner EMR
• Merge hemodynamic charting system
• Hospital provides scrubs for use in the cath lab
