Job Opportunity: Adult Psych RN - Days
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x 12-hour shifts, Days
Job Summary
Registered Nurse (RN) position on an inpatient Adolescent Behavioral Unit caring for children and adolescents ages 6-18. Primary diagnoses include major depression and ADD/ADHD. Responsibilities include medication administration and education, daily patient care documentation, behavior management, and leading education groups. The RN will work as part of an interdisciplinary team and must be willing to float to Chemical Dependency/Detox units.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- BLS certification required
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) trained
- Must be able to float to Chemical Dependency/Detox units
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and coworkers
- Ability to manage stress and maintain professional boundaries in stressful situations
- Dedicated team player who is self-directed and able to stay busy during downtime
Additional Information
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid
- The employer reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract
