RN Perioperative/PACU

Overview

• Contract RN role in Cody, Wyoming.
• Day shift: 0700-1730, 4 days per week.
• 40 hours per week.
• Call required.
• Outpatient Services/PACU nurse responsible for safe preparation, education, and discharge of patients scheduled for procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wyoming.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• BLS.
• ACLS.
• PALS.
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year.
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (2 years of experience).
• Perioperative experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• National perioperative certification.

Clinical Focus

• Outpatient services.
• Pre-op.
• Post-op.
• PACU.
• Procedural sedation.

Skills and Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust the nursing care process as indicated.
• Perform focused assessments and reassessments across pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Monitor hemodynamic status and interpret results.
• Identify arrhythmias and intervene using ACLS and PALS algorithms and physician orders.
• Prepare patients for examinations or procedures and assist the physician as needed.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation.
• Teach patients and families, including discharge instruction review.
• Manage medications and IV fluids, including drips.
• Perform treatments and procedures within training and capabilities.
• Keep rooms and work areas clean, stocked, and ready for use.
• Assist with orientation of new employees.
• Supervise nursing students.
• Attend mandatory in-service, yearly education day, and department meetings.

• Must interact effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Exposure category includes tasks with potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
