Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Position

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

Level III trauma center with 198 beds
ICU unit with 14 beds
Patient population: Adult
Patient ratios: 1:1 and 1:2
Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
Float requirement: Must float to other inpatient nursing units

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications (must be through American Heart Association):
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
Experience floating to other inpatient nursing units

Job Responsibilities & Expectations

Provide intensive care nursing to adult patients in a Level III trauma ICU
Ability to manage patient care with 1:1 and 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios
Flexibility to float to other inpatient nursing units as needed

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
