Job Summary
Provide nursing care in a Nephrology unit, which is an extension of the Medical/Surgical units. The unit serves geriatric and adult patients with diagnoses including End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), Peritoneal Dialysis, and Hemodialysis.
Shift & Hours
- Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 2 weekend shifts per month
- Call: None
- Float: As needed per facility needs
Unit Profile
- Number of Beds: 24
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:6
- Equipment: Vital Signs machine, Bladder Scanner, Lifts, Thermal Imaging, IV pumps/tubes
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

- Must work at least 2 weekend shifts per month

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
