Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Number of Openings: 3
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: May be required to float to NICU, Pediatric ICU (PICU), or Postpartum floor based on patient volume
Patient Population & Unit Information
- Patient Types: Premature infants, infants of diabetic mothers, infants with respiratory distress, post-date infants (neonatal patients)
- Number of Beds: 46
- Patient Ratios: Not guaranteed; NICU ratio typically 1:3, determined by acuity
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 – April 1 (declinations not accepted)
- Night shift orientation occurs on day shift and requires availability for the entire week
- Must be flexible and maintain a positive attitude
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for neonatal patients
- Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
- Practice within the scope of nursing and comply with Missouri Nurse Practice Act and facility standards

- Scrub color: Black scrubs; Mercy Kids scrub tops allowed with black scrub pants
- Other attire is not acceptable
