Emergency department with 16 beds and 8 hall chairs
Typical staffing is 6–7 per shift
Patient ratio is 1:4, with low-acuity ESI 4 and 5 patients; may take up to 6
Common responsibilities include assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IVs, urine collection, and lab draws
EMTALA training is mandatory
Shift huddles at 7am and 7pm are mandatory unless providing critical care at the time
Transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
