Job Overview

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
  • ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients

Preferred Qualifications

  • CEN or TCRN
  • Greater than 2 years of emergency department experience

Unit Details

  • Emergency department with 16 beds and 8 hall chairs
  • Typical staffing is 6–7 per shift
  • Patient ratio is 1:4, with low-acuity ESI 4 and 5 patients; may take up to 6
  • Common responsibilities include assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IVs, urine collection, and lab draws
  • EMTALA training is mandatory
  • Shift huddles at 7am and 7pm are mandatory unless providing critical care at the time
  • Transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital
