Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel Assignment

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

• Unit: Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU)
• Beds: 20
• Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1, sometimes 1:1 depending on patient acuity
• Equipment Used: Ventilators, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED), EV 1000 monitoring system, traction devices
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling: 4-week scheduling increments with a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule; some self-scheduling allowed; manager may adjust shifts for balance
• Floating Policy: Contract nurses float first; may be required to float to med/surg units as needed
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Procedures

• Experience with critical care procedures including:

  • Insertion of central lines
  • Arterial line placement
  • Lumbar punctures
  • Chest tube insertions
  • EVD insertions
• Ability to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and families

Additional Information

• Occasional nurse externs may assist as techs on the unit
• The unit values teamwork and offers exposure to advanced critical care technology
• Contract nurses are integral to staffing and may be asked to assist in other units as needed
