Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel Assignment)

Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Specialty Areas: Medicine, Surgery, Telemetry, Pediatrics
  • Unit: Acute Care Services
  • Number of Beds: 23
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5
  • Patient Population: Pediatric, Adult, Geriatric
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: Variable
  • Call Requirements: As per contract
  • Potential to float to other departments based on patient census and needs

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Registered Nurse License (RN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – must be obtained within 60 days of start
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – must be obtained within 90 days of start
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in nursing specialty (Medicine, Surgery, Telemetry, Pediatrics)

Skills and Equipment

  • Preferred experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry
  • Familiarity with common diagnoses/treatments including COPD, CHF, pre/post cardiac catheterization, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, and acute respiratory failure (adult and pediatric)
  • Experience with Omnicell Medication Dispenser, Baxter pumps, Masimo Monitors, GE Telemetry Monitoring system
  • Electronic Health Record system: MEDHOST

Additional Information

  • Rapid response candidates needed; must be able to start within 7-10 days of offer acceptance
  • Fit testing provided on-site
  • Travel assignment requires candidate’s home location to be more than 60 miles from the facility
  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color are acceptable; no mandatory scrub colors
  • Orientation sessions held weekly

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Nevada
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
  • American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Multi State Cert) (ABCP)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
