Unit Information
- Department: Respiratory Therapy (NICU)
- Floor: 2nd
- Number of Staff: 11
- Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 2 Respiratory Therapists (1 NICU) plus clinical coordinator (Monday-Friday)
- Night Shift: 2 Respiratory Therapists
- Patient Ratios:
- 1st RT covers NICU, MST, or PCU
- 2nd RT covers ER, ICU, MST, or PCU (subject to change based on acuity)
- Equipment Used:
- Ventilators: Servo U, PB 980, MR1 transport vent, C1 Hamilton Medical
- Bipap: V60, C1
- F&P bubble CPAP, F&P HFNC
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech
- Dress Code: Black scrubs
- Weekend Schedule: Rotating weekends
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Texas
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Skills & Competencies (Must Have)
- Critical care management for adult ventilated patients
- Ventilator weaning guidelines experience
- Tracheostomy care management
- Emergency and standard airway care across all patient populations
- EKG procedure knowledge
- Blood gas analysis and arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling technique
- Respiratory therapy medication administration
- Respiratory therapy plan of care, assessment, and progress evaluation
- Oxygen therapy management
- Response to Code Blue, Trauma, and STEMI events
- Documentation and charge capture for therapy provided
- Effective physician communication
- Adherence to safety standards and checklist completion
- Infection prevention standards compliance

- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience
