Unit Profile – Behavioral Health Unit

• Unit: Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)
• Number of Beds: 7
• Average Daily Census: 3-5 patients
• Patient Population: Adult Behavioral Health/Psychiatric patients only
• Patient Ratios: One RN on duty with BH technician and desk attendant
• Equipment: Medication/supply Pyxis system
• Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
• Shift: Nights
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: Variable
• Call Requirements: Possible call if census drops to zero
• Schedule: Likely fixed schedule (Sun/Mon/Tues or Mon/Tues/Wed)
• Float Requirements: No float required

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Behavioral Health/Psych

• Required Certifications: BLS
• Experience: Minimum 1 year
• Education: ADN or BSN

Required Skills and Experience

• De-escalation techniques and training
• Patient interviewing skills
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications
• Basic wound care
