Job Description
The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, quality nursing care aligned with the Department of Nursing’s philosophy and goals. Utilizing Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care. The RN collaborates with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote health, maintain safety, and restore wellness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing patient physical and psychosocial conditions continuously
- Formulating nursing diagnoses and care plans in collaboration with patients
- Performing nursing skills and educating patients and families on health needs
- Evaluating care effectiveness and modifying plans as necessary
- Demonstrating knowledge and safe use of equipment, medications, and instrumentation
- Delegating tasks appropriately and supervising care team members
- Advocating for patients’ rights and informed decision-making
- Providing culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards
- Coordinating patient care activities with healthcare team members
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years acute care experience, including telemetry
- Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing
- Associate Degree or BSN accepted; BSN required by January 1, 2020, unless grandfathered
- Valid and current California RN license
- Current AHA or equivalent BLS certification
- Proficient written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
- Ability to perform all physical duties of the job, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills
- Completion of annual organizational employment requirements
Contract Length
- 8 weeks
Additional Information
- Accountable for meeting or exceeding unit and organizational patient satisfaction goals
- Responsible for documenting nursing care per hospital policies
- Utilizes manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and productivity
- Investigates and assists in resolving complaints from physicians, employees, and patients
- Performs other duties as assigned
