Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Overview

• Location: West Islip, New York
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Hours per week: 48

Required Qualifications

• Active New York RN license
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• At least 1 year of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Charge role experience

Required Documentation and Screening

• Government-issued driver’s license or state ID with address and clear photo
• 7-year background check completed within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Employment application covering 7 years of work history with any gaps explained
• 2 clinical references at supervisor level or above
• Current skills checklist completed within the last year
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with a minimum score of 80%
• Physical exam using the facility-specific form, completed within 30 days before start and updated annually
• Fit test completed within 12 months of start and updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray
• Immunity or vaccination documentation for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, and flu
• Drug screen completed within 30 days before start
• Signed AUP form
• New York State Medicaid Exclusion List verification

• COVID vaccination is preferred if already received
• State license verification is required within 30 days of start
