Respiratory Therapist, NICU

Job Overview

  • Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 18 weeks
  • First-timers accepted: Yes
  • Floating: May float within scope to an adult respiratory therapy unit as needed

Schedule Expectations

  • Weekends are required as needed by the unit
  • Must work 2 of 3 holiday bundles
  • Requests for time off greater than 7 days need approval

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New Mexico
  • Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy - NICU experience

  • NICU respiratory care
  • Pediatric critical care
  • Endotracheal tube suctioning and extubation
  • Nasal and oral airway placement/suctioning
  • Oropharyngeal suctioning
  • Sputum specimen collection
  • Tracheostomy suctioning
  • Pulmonary toileting
  • ABG interpretation

Compliance and Onboarding

  • Valid non-local driver’s license
  • Social Security card
  • Background check
  • Fingerprinting
  • Education verification
  • Physical exam within 1 year before start
  • Fit mask clearance within 1 year before start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year before start
  • TB questionnaire
  • Drug screen within 30 days before start
  • Flu vaccination or documentation on file before start
  • COVID vaccine documentation or declination, if applicable
  • Two professional references within 3 years of hire
  • Complete application with at least 3 years of work history
  • Skills checklist
  • Work history verification
  • Traveler compliance form
  • Welcome PowerPoint acknowledgement
  • Background registration
  • Emergency contact form
  • Cerner training attestation may be completed if the clinician has Cerner experience

Additional Notes

  • No locals within 100 miles
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
  • OT applies after 48 hours on all contracts
