Job Opportunity: LVN / LPN - Medical Surgical

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule & Work Details

• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Floating: Required to float within skillset
• Locals Accepted: Yes, radius rule applies for LPNs
• Call-off Policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by client during contract without charge

Licenses & Certifications

• Active New York Single State LPN license required (NY is not Compact)
• BLS certification required (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI accepted)
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit
• State License Verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: LVN / LPN in Medical Surgical
• Minimum Experience: Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• Must be able to take own patient assignment with RN support
• Prior travel experience: Not required (accepts first-time travelers)

Clinical Skills Required

• Vital signs, pain assessment, intake/output monitoring
• Isolation precautions, physical restraints, specimen labeling
• Oxygen administration via nasal cannula, feeding tube management
• Telemetry monitoring, 12-lead EKG
• Medication administration (oral, IM, SQ, NG/G-tube, ear and eye drops)
• IV therapy with pumps, blood glucose monitoring
• Basic wound care (simple dressings, JP/Hemovac drains)
• Bathing and mouth care
• Foley catheter insertion (male/female), clean catch urine collection
• Communication of status changes to RN/MD
• Experience in MS/Telemetry care setting

Unit Details

• Patient Population: Medical patients with COPD exacerbation, infections, failure to thrive, social issues
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio (Days): 1:5-6
• Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Government issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and monthly thereafter
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification required (no hard copy degrees accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, with acceptable mask types specified
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
