Job Description

• NICU Registered Nurses needed for night shift (1900-0730)
• Must be committed to working 4 shifts per month at this location
• Orientation includes 1 day of computer training at home and 1 day on-unit starting at 7 AM
• Charting system used: Epic
• Scrubs color: Navy Blue
• Maximum of 2 shifts per week allowed
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years recent NICU experience
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Active RN License
  • Current AHA BLS, PALS, NRP certifications required
• Experience with ventilated/intubated patients, central line/implanted line care, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) required
• Ability to float to Pediatrics and PICU as needed
• Preferred experience with central line care
• Two clinical leadership references from assignments within the last 2 years required; at least one must be a manager, director, supervisor, or lead (charge nurse references not accepted)
• Must be dedicated to completing compliance and lab requirements promptly

Certifications & Competencies

• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required for NICU RN
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – not required for NICU RN
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for all RNs
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required
• Additional Training:

  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) required for ER, Peds ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not specifically NICU)
  • Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required

Health & Background Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Drug screen within 30 days of start
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Fit test and respiratory medical clearance required prior to start
• Color blindness test required if job tasks require color discrimination
• Background check within 30 days of start, including criminal and alias searches
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history required
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start date)

• Candidates are tied to one specific site and cannot switch locations once approved
• Sub review turnaround time may take 1-2 weeks
• 1-year separation required for previous staff at this facility
• Must complete all required documentation and clearances promptly to avoid delays
