Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salem, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Nuclear Medicine)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
  • Shift options:
    • 06:30 AM – 05:00 PM
    • 08:15 AM – 06:45 PM
  • Rotating weekday position (no block scheduling)
  • On-call required after department closes until it reopens (approximately 7 on-call days per month; on-call shifts are generally not busy)

Position Purpose

Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. Operate state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras, probes, computer systems, film processors, survey meters, and other technical devices.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Pending Nuclear Medicine license with Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) allowed
    • Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine with either:
      • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB), or
      • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
    • Must pass Basic Cardiac Monitoring class within 4 months of hire (class offered onsite)

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid driver’s license or state ID/passport
  • Criminal background check (7-year search) within 90 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity verification
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
  • Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (if starting after 1/27/25)

Competencies & Training

  • Competency exams with passing scores required (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG interpretation if applicable)
  • Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date
  • Badge photo submission required at least 8 days prior to start

  • On-call shifts are part of the role but are typically not busy
  • No block scheduling, rotating weekday shifts only
  • Must be capable of operating advanced Nuclear Medicine equipment
