Job Opportunity: Endocrinology-Infectious Disease LPN

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: LVN / LPN (Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse)
  • Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Weekend Requirement: None
  • On-call Requirement: Not applicable
  • Floating: Yes, may need to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units

Required Qualifications

  • Valid LPN / LVN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work within a 60-mile local radius
  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Floating between units may be required

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start is mandatory
  • A clear, passport-style photo for badge issuance is required before start
  • COVID-19 vaccination records are highly preferred; if not vaccinated, a vaccination declination form must be completed
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Fit testing for N95 masks required within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest X-ray if previously positive
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable

Background & Verification

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Employment verification of last 3 clinical employers
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts may be accepted as placeholder
  • NURSYS license verification required
  • State-specific searches including Medicaid excluded providers list
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS certification may be required depending on unit (verify with recruiter)
  • IV Therapy certification may be required for select LPNs (confirm with recruiter)
  • Other certifications such as PALS, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment

Notes

  • Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Floating between units or sister facilities may be required within scope of practice
  • Block scheduling requests require manager approval and depend on unit needs
