Job Details

• Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, Day/Night rotation (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM / 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Floating: Required
• Local Radius Requirement: Must live within 75 miles
• Patient Ratio: Able to manage 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio for MedSurg
• First Time Traveler: Accepted

Required Experience & Certifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience, minimum 1 year, within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Tech Cert Verification - National
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Unit Description

• Acute Stroke Unit with 39 beds specializing in acute stroke and neurological disorders, as well as acute medical patients
• Provides evidence-based care focused on stroke prevention and acute care phases

Required Pre-Employment & Ongoing Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, with monthly updates
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from primary source
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer or completed series)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References: 2 within last 3 years (for agency use)
• Employment application and work history verification
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required
• State-specific requirements including sex offender registry and Medicaid exclusion list checks

Additional Notes

• Floating between units is required
• Must be able to work alternating day and night shifts
• Candidate must complete all health and compliance requirements within 5 days of contract signing

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who holds a current New York RN license and is comfortable working in a fast-paced acute stroke and neurological care environment. Prior travel experience is not required.
