Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Shifts are 12-hour rotations, primarily 3 shifts per week (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), with possible shift rotation based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in Stepdown prior to travel
• Minimum 18 months of recent Stepdown experience; prior travel experience in Stepdown will satisfy this requirement
• 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience is preferred but not required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including fingerprinting (FBI and state), education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
• SafeMedicate and medication administration prep materials provided for orientation testing.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must provide 2 professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start date.
• Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements.

Prior Travel Experience

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but recent Stepdown travel experience will satisfy the Stepdown experience requirement.

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states who are comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
