Job Details
- Position: ICU Registered Nurse
- Location: Lexington, Kentucky
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Description
- Float between PCU (Progressive Care Unit) and ICU units; may also float to other PCU units.
- Must have critical thinking skills and ability to manage patients who may require rapid response.
- Experience required in PCU, Med/Surg, and Telemetry units.
- No first-time travelers accepted; local travelers within 100 miles are not accepted.
- 2 years recent ICU experience required.
- 1 year of Level 1 trauma experience in a high acuity PCU required.
- Orientation provided for other transitional units.
- Contract options available for 36 or 48 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) nursing
- Experience in Telemetry nursing
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers accepted.
- Must be able to work night shifts (3x12 hour shifts).
- Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance if they expire during the assignment.
- Pass/fail EKG exam is critical; failure after two attempts results in cancellation.
- Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with trauma and PCU experience who are comfortable floating between critical care units and have prior travel nursing experience.
