Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Crescent City, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• ICU Registered Nurse position on a travel/contract basis.
• Every other weekend work requirement.
• On-call/call-off based on census.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks required as applicable.
• Education verification required to confirm highest level achieved (BSN preferred).
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually, with negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable.
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) titers or vaccinations
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella titers or vaccinations
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
• Negative drug screen and immunization documentation must be uploaded with appropriate expiration dates.

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units.
• ICU RNs at certain locations may be required to take an EKG exam onsite after start.

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • Overpayment refund policy
  • General regulatory orientation for contracted workers
  • Parking and dress code policies (facility-specific)

Employment History and References

• Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; must include city and state of employment.
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
• Two professional references required for clinical acute care candidates, within 3 years of hire.
