Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Patient Ratio: 1:3

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in Medical Oncology, including diagnosis and symptom management for conditions such as Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, and Sickle Cell.
• Perform specialized procedures including chemotherapy/biotherapy administration, stem cell infusions, CAR-T therapy, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, blood product transfusions, and central line care.
• Float within scope to Acute Care/Intermediate Care (IMC) units as needed.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Facility uses Epic for charting.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
• Minimum of 1 year of Oncology nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Time Off and Scheduling

• Maximum of 5 days of requested time off (RTO) approved for a 13-week contract.
• Requests for more than 5 days require extending the contract length accordingly.
• All time off requests must be submitted at the time of request.

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted.
• Must be fully available for compliance needs up until start date.
• Physical exam not required unless specified for other roles.
• Facility does not require annual background checks but Aya Healthcare requires annual background checks for direct candidates.
• Medication override test provided during orientation (not required before start).
• Respirator clearance and fit testing required; onsite fit testing available if agency cannot provide prior to start.
• Must complete all required documentation and training to receive facility badge on the first day.
