Registered Nurse – CVICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts, rotating day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend, some holidays, no on-call required
  • Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Experience:
    • CVICU experience required
    • Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
    • Preferred: Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable areas
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry test before starting

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Screening Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form (state-mandated)
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Physical exam (to meet agency standard, not facility-required)
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • TB test or chest X-ray with questionnaire (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
    • Other vaccines or declinations as required by specific departments

Testing and Competency Exams

  • Telemetry test (Adult or Pediatric as applicable) required prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Pass/Fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation process for failures
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment and other facility-specific training acknowledgments

Additional Notes

  • Photo for badge must be submitted in specified format and quality prior to start
  • References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (agency standard)
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with strong telemetry and arrhythmia skills, comfortable with 12-hour rotating shifts, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and testing requirements.
