Job Description

• Provide nursing care exclusively to pediatric and adolescent patients aged 5-17.
• Must have prior travel experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse required.

Required Qualifications

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted). ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain PALS for longer-term assignments.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification as applicable.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification as applicable.
• Other certifications may be required based on assignment specifics (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification).
• Annual completion of Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
• Pass/Fail testing during orientation including medication administration and EKG.
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Social Security Card.
• E-Verify or Attestation.
• 7-year background check completed within 30 days of start.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Education verification or diploma as placeholder if verification pending.
• NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start.
• Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background).
• Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start (e.g., Non-Employee Information, Health Record, Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Statement, Information System Security Agreement, Orientation Update, Traveler Orientation).
• Hepatitis B declination form if no positive titer on file.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
• Fit test within 6 months prior to start; annual updates required.
• Required immunizations and/or proof of immunity within 72 hours of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or series with declination form)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or proof of disease)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season (10/31-3/31)
  • COVID initial series (boosters not required)
• Drug testing required within 30 days; must include standard panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoid, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine, methadone, propoxyphene).
• TB questionnaire required annually or in lieu of annual TB test.
• Two professional references within 3 years of start.
• Resume or employment application required.
• Annual skills checklist.

Additional Notes

• Legal name must match exactly on all license documentation, IDs, social security card, and certifications. Proof of name change alone is not sufficient.
• If any discrepancies or issues arise with background checks, licenses, or certifications, escalation to the appropriate compliance or facility contact is required.
• Candidates must have a plan to complete all time-sensitive requirements within 72 hours of signing the contract.
