Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position involves floating between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units in a true LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) setting.
- Assigned to a maternity float pool, working both L&D and PP.
- Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15), totaling 48 hours per week.
- Facility accepts 36 or 48 hours per week schedules and is open to 26-week contracts as well.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum)
- Labor and Delivery experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background check, education verification, and state-specific clearances.
- Health documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions.
- Immunizations or valid declinations for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu, COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or facility-specific declination required). Declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU for some vaccines.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable, plus TB questionnaire.
- Drug testing within 30 days of start.
- Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
- Two professional references within three years of start date.
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia competency as applicable.
Additional Notes
- Locals are eligible for the same bill rate.
- Candidates must be aware of strict pass/fail testing policies at orientation.
- Prior travel experience is preferred but not explicitly required.
- Floating between units requires flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced maternity environment.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses comfortable with maternity float pools, telemetry monitoring, and rigorous compliance standards.
