Shift Details
- Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15)
- Weekends scheduled every other or every third weekend depending on unit needs
Job Description
- Charge Nurse role in the Emergency Room (ER) during night shifts
- Must have prior charge experience specifically in the ED
- Required to return to work (RTO) 5 days or less, no exceptions
- No blocked scheduling requests allowed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Prior experience in Charge Nurse roles within the ED
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Certifications
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security number verification (actual card not required)
- Background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including SSN trace, statewide, federal, nationwide, sex offender, and international searches if applicable
- Copy of professional nursing license (hard copy preferred but not required)
- Primary source verification of license
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Immunizations and titers or vaccinations for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap highly preferred or declination)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (titers or 2 vaccines; boosters if titers negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B (titer, proof of series, or facility-specific declination)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; booster if titer negative/equivocal)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (QGold, T-SPOT, or 2 PPDs)
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests acceptable)
- Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required year-round (updated documentation deadline November 19)
- Completion of facility-specific modules and trainings after orientation (monitored and required)
- Annual competency exams including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency (minimum 85%)
- Patient restraints competency
- Core Part I, II, III (minimum 85%)
- OSHA mandatory training (minimum 85%)
- IV Therapy certification will be completed onsite if applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification required for ED nurses (valid through AHA, APEX, or NIHSS)
- CMS Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) training annually (proof of completion required)
- Review and sign facility-specific documents including:
- Code of Conduct
- Applicant Disclosure Statement
- Confidentiality Policy
- Internet Usage Agreement
- Appearance and Dress Code guidelines
References & History
- At least two satisfactory references from previous employers within the last year, including evaluation of clinical competency and reliability; references must be from a manager, supervisor, or charge RN
- Copy of employment application required
Additional Notes
- Start dates available: July 6 or July 20
- Candidates must comply with all health and facility requirements prior to start
- Facility requires Washington State Patrol and court search results as part of background checks
This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working night shifts in a charge nurse capacity.
