Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Expected Patient Ratio: 1:1

Job Description

• Position requires floating between units based on skill set.
• Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is required.
• Must have Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Vehicle required for assignment due to multiple facility locations in the region.
• No on-call, weekend, or block schedule requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric PACU (Post Anesthetic Care) experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Valid Driver's License.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
• Immunizations and screenings required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination on file
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
• Fit mask testing required for travel assignments, updated annually.

Competencies and Training

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
• Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
• Epic electronic health record training required.

Additional Information

• Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.
• Parking is free at the facility.
• Charting system used: Epic.
• Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 536 staffed beds.
• Teaching hospital environment.
