Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Night Shift)
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Start Dates: July 8 or July 15
- Shift Flexibility: Start time may vary by up to 4 hours earlier or later only in urgent staffing situations (very rare)
- Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
- Specialty Requirements: Must be able to read telemetry
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- ED - Emergency Department (1.5 years of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Ability to read telemetry
Orientation and Testing Requirements
- Two pass/fail exams at orientation:
- Medication exam
- Telemetry exam (required for RNs working in telemetry units including L&D; not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, NICU)
- Only one attempt allowed per exam; failure results in immediate contract cancellation
- Study materials will be provided before orientation
- Minimum passing score: 80% on both exams
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county search, national criminal search, and federal databases
- Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
- Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Required immunizations or valid declinations (MMR, Hepatitis B, TDAP, Varicella, Flu, COVID-19) with some declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU
- Drug test within 30 days of start
- Other:
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (tracking only)
- Two professional references within three years
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable

- Candidates must pass the telemetry and medication exams on the first day of orientation to avoid cancellation
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- The client enforces strict compliance with all documentation and certification requirements
- Candidates declining certain vaccines must provide facility-specific declination forms; some declinations are not accepted in pediatric, maternity, or NICU areas
