Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)

Location: Deerfield Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Manage a caseload of 25-30 adult and geriatric patients daily in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days x 8 hours).
  • Weekend coverage required: 2-3 weekend days per month plus one full weekend every 4 weeks.
  • No call or holiday shifts.
  • Participate in hurricane sign-up (not guaranteed deployment).
  • Collaborate with a remote Utilization Review (UR) team while ensuring timely and necessary diagnostic tests, consults, labs, and procedures.
  • Work in a high-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Preferred experience with Level 1 Trauma cases.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida.
  • Minimum 3 years of case management experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience in an acute care hospital setting with acute hospital case management experience.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Knowledge of documentation requirements for Medicare Conditions of Participation.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems including Epic, Cerner, and Allscripts.

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only.
  • NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, Blue Cloud, or equivalent).
  • Completion of facility-specific online orientation and mandatory modules (e.g., Privacy Policy, AHCA Affidavit, Clinical Orientation, Risk Management, Compliance & Ethics, Code of Conduct, Emergency Management, Harassment Prevention).
  • Additional nursing-specific modules including:
    • Safe IV Medication Administration
    • Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace
    • PPE Donning and Doffing for COVID-19
    • Stroke and Stroke Core Measures Review
    • End of Life Care
    • Procedural Sedation Adults and Pediatrics
    • Handling Hazardous Drugs
    • Clinical Reference Guides
    • Dysphagia and Aspiration Precautions
    • ERAS BSI CLABSI Course
    • Blood Administration & Anticoagulant Therapy
    • HIPAA Privacy Training
  • Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams (except case managers).

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA, confirming ability to perform job duties without restrictions.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted).
  • Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small).
  • Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months or chest X-ray within 2 years if previously positive.
  • Annual TB questionnaire.
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer).
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination).
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • Background check within 6 months including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, with alias, SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, and other required searches.
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start.

Additional Information

  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours.
  • Two professional references required within the last 2 years.
  • Badge photo required: passport-style, color, white background, no obstructions.
  • Local candidates within 60 miles considered.
  • Hurricane sign-up participation required but deployment not guaranteed.
