Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
Job Details
- Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Unit Size: 34 rooms/beds
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years, with current Critical Care and Telemetry experience
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
- Local Radius Rule: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 5 days allowed
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC, current
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC, current
- EKG Course / Telemetry Test
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (can be obtained during compliance)
- State RN License (no pending licenses accepted)
Experience & Competencies
- Current experience in Critical Care and Telemetry units
- Patient care with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Familiarity with Epic charting system and Omnicell medication system
- Ability to float within scope to other units as needed
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID
- Utility bill in traveler’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months (address must be >75 miles from facility)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Drug screening (10-panel including marijuana, negative result required)
- Physical exam within 1 year, confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (mandatory for certain units)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history)
- Flu vaccine (required annually with exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccine documentation or declination accepted
- Fit mask testing (N95) completed onsite on first day
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training (including HIPAA, OSHA)
- Passing competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, and unit-specific exams
- Skills checklist updated annually and aligned with competency exams
- References: Two former direct supervisor references required (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
- Employment history verification for the past 10 years
Additional Notes
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Must complete facility-specific documents such as policy acknowledgments and ethical conduct agreements prior to start
- Candidates must be able to comply with floating requirements to sister facilities
- EPIC training required if no EPIC experience within last 12 months
