Cath Lab RN - Cardiology

Location: Olympia Fields, Illinois
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Shift: Days, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, including call rotation (on-call every 2nd or 3rd weekend, 1-3 times per week)


Job Description

  • Provide exceptional patient care to adult and geriatric populations during cardiovascular procedures.
  • Support patients holistically, addressing physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs in a surgical/procedural environment.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, providing continuous updates on patient status before, during, and after procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure rooms, ensuring equipment is functioning, calibrated, and ready.
  • Manage supplies and inventory to support efficient Cath Lab workflow.
  • Monitor physiologic and hemodynamic data during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, interpreting data accurately and responding rapidly.
  • Continuously assess and document patient condition in the Cardiovascular Lab.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent hands-on experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Lab.
  • Experience in Cardiology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Certification in DCI/BVP.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Must be available for call rotation as specified.

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport required for onboarding.
  • Completion of a national criminal background check within one year of start date.
  • COVID-19 vaccination series plus booster or documented declination.
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza (seasonal), and Tdap.
  • Annual TB test and questionnaire within one year of start date.
  • Annual respirator fit test completed prior to start.
  • Physical/health statement confirming clearance to work, completed annually or within 60 days of start.
  • Completion of required competency exams and skills checklists with a minimum score of 80%.
  • Submission of up-to-date resume and two professional references (one from a manager or direct supervisor).
  • Signed job description and education verification (diploma or transcripts).
  • Completion of workplace violence prevention training.
  • Submission of a clear badge photo (headshot with plain background).
  • Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9) or agency attestation.
