Registered Nurse (MS/Tele - 4N) Travel/Contract Position

Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Unit: 4N (46-bed surgical unit)
  • Patient Population: Trauma surgery, post bariatric surgery, post abdominal surgery, post amputation surgery, urological issues, medically and cardiac overflow
  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
  • Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
  • Start Date: ASAP

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year required
  • First-timers: Accepted
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA only)
    • BLS (AHA only)
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (required for all RNs)

Additional Requirements

  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Locals: Not accepted; travelers must live at least 50 miles away from the facility
  • Background Check:
    • Required within 90 days of start
    • Must cover last 7 years and all states lived/worked in
    • Includes SSN trace, state criminal checks, national criminal, sex offender registry
    • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold within 1 year; T-Spots not accepted)
    • TB questionnaire (prior to start and annually)
    • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant accepted if quick start)
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious declination required prior to start
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
    • Passport-style photo for badge
    • COVID vaccine medical exemption form if applicable
    • Flu vaccine declination forms if applicable
    • Completion of facility-required training modules (~8-10 hours, due before start)

Notes

  • On-site EKG exam and cardiac rhythm knowledge required only for Monitor Techs (not this RN role)
  • State license verification required as applicable
  • Candidates must complete all required modules and documentation prior to start
  • COVID and flu vaccine exemptions require formal submission and approval

This position offers a surgical trauma-focused experience on a busy 46-bed unit with a diverse patient population and requires strong certification compliance and documentation readiness.
