Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Lafayette, Louisiana
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit / Assignment Details

• Major Trauma unit
• Patient diagnoses include multi-trauma, seizure, GSW, falls, TBI, stroke, sepsis, psych, epidural hematomas, epidural hemorrhage, cerebral edema, ortho-related trauma, and encephalopathy
• Special procedures include craniotomy, spinal fusions, ORIF, muscle flaps, skin grafts, AKA, BKA, IM nails, external fixators, and spinal stimulators
• Special equipment includes traction, external fixators, trapeze, PCA pumps, JP drains, wound vacs, chest tubes, ortho braces, hemo vacs, central lines, trach, PEG, and NG tubes
• Float scope: can be pulled to all other inpatient units

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Acute Care (2 years of experience)
• Acute Care experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• TNCC
• Blood product administration
• PICC line management
• Pre/Post Neuro surgery care
• Traumatic brain injury (TBI) management
• Surgical drain management
• Chest tube management
• Neurosurgery experience
• Ortho Trauma experience

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• NIH

Scheduling / Holiday Expectations

• Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Every other holiday
• Scheduling requests such as block scheduling are not guaranteed

Additional Assignment Expectations

• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during an emergency event and may need to remain at the facility until the event passes or serve on the relief team
