• Travel/Contract RN role in Freehold, New Jersey
• Unit 3 East
• Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Oncology experience
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• ONS/ONCC
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays required, every other
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• May float to other MS/Tele units as needed
• Ratio: 1:6

Unit Details

• Medical-surgical telemetry oncology unit
• Cares for patients receiving chemo, patients with a past/present cancer diagnosis, and inpatient hospice patients requiring general inpatient care
• Does not accept patients with infections that may compromise the oncology population, COVID-19, airborne isolation, or peritoneal dialysis patients
• Unit includes 14 private rooms, ceiling lifts, and a negative- or positive-pressure room for infection control
• Provides oncology and medical-surgical care, including care for patients requiring cardiac monitoring

Clinical Skills

• IV/infusions, including port access, central-line blood draws, PICC/central/implanted-line care, infusion pumps, IV hydration/multivitamins, and IV starts
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring, including continuous infusion, IV push, oral chemo, post-chemo body-fluid handling, and cytotoxic-spill management/disposal
• Symptom management for oncology patients, including neutropenic precautions, ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Care coordination, chest tubes, colostomy/ileostomy care, F/C insertion, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, telephone triage, and post-surgical care

Additional Requirements

• Flu vaccine required; declinations not accepted
• Medical and religious exemptions accepted, with mask use required
• Background check required within 30 days of start
• Drug screen required within 30 days of start
• Physical or fit-for-work statement required within 12 months of start
• Negative TB or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
• References: 2 current references related to the requested position, completed by a supervisor or manager
