Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Description

• Work on a great unit in a new building with a welcoming and supportive team culture.
• Patient ratio: 1:5 during day shifts, 1:6 during night shifts.
• Floating required to 2W (2nd floor ward), CDU (Clinical Decision Unit), and ARU (Acute Rehabilitation Unit).
• Telemetry experience preferred.
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience.
• Kerrville is located in Texas wine country, about 1 hour from San Antonio.

Shift Details

• Night shift
• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
• Total 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in short stay units.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• E-Verify compliance.
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year search within 1 year of start (SS Trace, County searches, Nationwide Sex Offender).
  • Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification.
• Primary source verification of state license.
• Annual competency exams (medication/pharmacology and specialty-specific).
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (time sensitive, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing).
• Vaccinations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Seasonal Flu (vaccine or declination required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (time sensitive, plan must be in place within 72 hours of contract signing).

• Prior travel experience is not required.
• Telemetry experience is preferred but not mandatory.
