Job Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Burn MedSurg)
- Unit: 15 room, 26 bed unit
- Patient Population: Adult Burn, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Trauma and Burn (pediatric experience preferred but not required)
- Special Procedures:
- Anesthesia-assisted painful wound care (Nitrous available)
- Use of 2 tank rooms and a bath room for wound care
- EtCO2 monitoring for specific patients
- Wound care RN support during day shifts (07:00-15:30)
- Average Daily Census: 22 patients
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 3-4 patients per nurse
- Night: 4-5 patients per nurse
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Travelers will be first to float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- On-call: No
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per every 2-week contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by facility but needed for agency)
- Mask Fit Test within 12 months (3M 1860R, 1860S, or 1870+ masks)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years (declination allowed with signed forms)
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Annual TB questionnaire (except Micro Lab candidates)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination with signed forms)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination or declination (required for tracking)
- Drug Screening: Required within past 12 months (urine drug screen acceptable)
Orientation and Training
- Facility uses EPIC for charting with hard stops
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing with 80% passing score required
- Modules must be completed prior to start date (approx. 2-3 hours)
- Onsite orientation testing includes medication and dysrhythmia exams
- Annual stroke education required for certain units

Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse specializing in Burn Medical Surgical care. The role involves caring for adult and pediatric burn and trauma patients in a high-acuity, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital. Candidates must have at least 1 year of relevant experience, current RN licensure in Washington, and BLS certification. First-time travelers are welcome. The position requires weekend work every other weekend and adherence to strict health, safety, and competency standards. Orientation and ongoing education are mandatory components of the assignment.
