Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (9:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Work Hours: 40 hours per week
• Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Emergency Team: May be assigned to an emergency response team during events, requiring extended stay or relief duties as directed by unit manager.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
  • Sex offender search required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
• Education Verification: Primary or third-party verification of highest education level required.
• License Verification: NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.
• Physical Exam: Must be completed within 12 months prior to start, indicating good physical health.
• Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 60 days of start; instant screenings not accepted.
• Immunizations & Health:

  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required.
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Tdap vaccine required only for specific units (not PACU).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
• Fit Mask Testing: Fit testing for N95 masks required within one year of start; can be completed onsite if needed.
• Photo for Badge: Full-color, passport-style photo taken within last 6 months required within 24 hours of booking.

Additional Notes

• No floating to other floors required.
• No on-call requirements.
• No excessive return-to-office (RTO) restrictions.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification not required for ICU or PACU specialties.
• Candidates must be willing to comply with emergency preparedness protocols, especially during hurricane season (June 1 - Nov 30).

This position is suitable for experienced PACU nurses comfortable with night shifts and emergency response duties, holding current certifications and licensure, and able to meet comprehensive compliance and health documentation requirements.
