Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Job Details

Unit: Emergency Department (ED)
Shift: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Total Hours per Week: 36

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Ohio
Minimum 1.5 years recent Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Current PALS certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Documentation & Compliance

Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID) required and must be carried on assignment
Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be updated annually
Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
Nursys verification within 30 days of start
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months of start and updated annually
Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted)
Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Orientation & Training Requirements

Completion of facility-specific onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required during orientation (90% passing for medication, 80% for ECG)
Facility-specific documents including compliance checklists, patient care checklists, confidentiality agreements, and COVID-19 questionnaire must be completed prior to or on day 1 of orientation
Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)

References & Work History

Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director; co-worker references not accepted)
Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with minimum 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area to assignment

Additional Notes

Candidates with a break in employment longer than 30 days may need to update physical exam and eye exam if older than 1 year
Candidates must comply with all health and safety requirements including latex allergy notification if applicable
