Critical Care Float Nurse (Registered Nurse) - Travel/Contract

Location: Seattle, Washington
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Job Summary

  • Float within scope to all critical care units in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Must have recent ICU experience within the last year.
  • Academic/Teaching facility experience required.
  • Telemetry skills required, including proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (a competency test will be administered).
  • Required clinical skills: ventilators, IV starts, telemetry, conscious sedation.
  • Preferred skills: intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, pulmonary artery (PA) lines.
  • Weekend work required every other weekend.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Locals accepted; no pending license accepted.
  • Block scheduling accommodations not available.
  • References must be from a direct supervisor (not a charge nurse).
  • Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation prior to facility submission; no additional RTO granted after offer.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
  • Minimum 3 years of Critical Care Float nursing experience, including recent experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Proficient in telemetry and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Experience with ventilator management.
  • Conscious sedation competency.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.

Facility & Work Environment

  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with 500 staffed beds.
  • Charting system: Epic with hard stops.
  • Scrub color: Any solid color; light blue scrubs provided on unit.
  • Parking available onsite and offsite with shuttle service (weekday only).
  • Orientation testing is pass/fail with an 80% passing score required.
  • Badge photo required (professional, waist-up, clear lighting, simple background).

Additional Notes

  • First-time travel nurses are not accepted; strong ICU experience is mandatory.
  • No pending licenses accepted.
  • Must complete facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history, policies and procedures acknowledgment, license acknowledgment, and code of conduct.
  • Physical exam within 1 year recommended but not required by facility.
  • Annual stroke education required for RNs working in neuro and ICU units.
  • Candidates must complete all pending license requirements (including fingerprinting) prior to starting.
  • Candidates must complete all required competency exams and certifications prior to start date.
  • Facility requires acknowledgment of pass/fail testing results and compliance with all health and safety protocols.

This position is ideal for experienced critical care RNs with strong ICU and telemetry skills seeking a night shift travel assignment in a high-acuity, academic Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
