Interventional Radiology Travel/Contract Job - Charlotte, North Carolina


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology)
  • Location: Charlotte, NC
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
  • Call Requirement: One day per week on a rotating schedule (Tuesday, Thursday, Monday, Wednesday, Weekend)
  • Weekend Requirement: Approximately 1 weekend every 6-7 weeks
  • Float Requirement: None
  • Average Daily Census: 450 patients; 20 visits/day; 3 rooms; 650 beds
  • Orientation: 40 hours (missing any portion may delay or cancel start)
  • Scrubs: Not provided; light blue scrubs required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Not a first-time traveler

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional skills in adrenal angiography, aortography, gastrostomy tube placement, liver biopsy, paracentesis, pulmonary arteriography, radioembolization, stent placement, thoracentesis
  • Experience with dialysis graft interventions, upper/lower extremity angiography
  • Venous access care and maintenance for central lines and PICC lines
  • Familiarity with GE Innova IGS, Siemens, and ultrasound equipment
  • Ability to perform EKG lead placement and vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
  • Certifications: ARRT CI & ARRT VI

  • Stroke intervention
  • Intracranial embolization
  • Kyphoplasty
  • Carotid & vertebral stent placement
  • Nephrostomy and biliary placement
  • Chemoembolization
  • Therasphere mapping & infusion
  • Mesenteric angiogram
  • Uterine Arterial Embolization (UAE), Gastric Arterial Embolization (GAE), Prostatic Arterial Embolization (PAE)
  • Chest port and permanent catheter placement

Equipment & Systems

  • Fluoroscopy required
  • GE Innova Single Plane & Siemens Artis Biplane (x2)
  • Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC (required)

Scheduling & Start Date Notes

  • Start date subject to change based on class and trainer availability
  • Travelers may start Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week
  • Must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation and start week
  • Missing any portion of orientation may delay or cancel start
  • Final start date confirmed the Tuesday prior to start week

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background checks required within 90 days of start (local county, federal court, national criminal database, DOJ sex offender search, education verification)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (30 days if past positive TB)
  • Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training)
  • Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (including facility-specific declination if applicable)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Medication safety training and other facility-specific mandatory education required
  • Competency exams including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must pass with 82% or higher)
  • References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel/allied/per diem acute care; 1 for per diem non-acute care
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Radiation badge required for Interventional Radiology Techs

Important Notes

  • No return to orientation (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Locals accepted with rate difference
  • Call schedule rotates through weekdays and weekends
  • Scrubs are not provided; light blue scrubs required onsite
  • Badge photo must meet specific requirements (passport style, white background, business attire, no head coverings except glasses)
  • Multiple facility-specific documents and trainings must be completed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology technologists with strong procedural skills, certification, and prior travel experience who can commit to a 13-week travel contract with a structured orientation and call schedule.
