Job Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical with Orthopedics focus
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients on all shifts
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital, Level I Trauma center
- Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
- High turnover, fast-paced environment with complex orthopedic cases including knees, hips, total joints, trauma, oncology, and complicated ortho cases
- Responsibilities include patient education, phlebotomy, PCA, epidural care, mobility precautions, and post-op care (out of bed 4 hours post-op)
- Floating within service line may be required
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Local candidates not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted
- Must pass Relias EKG exam (Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias required)
- Med/Surg experience required; IV start required
- Preferred: Level I Trauma experience (2+ years), Orthopedic experience, BSN preferred
- First-time travelers accepted only if they have EPIC experience
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending license accepted)
- Med Surg nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
- Competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (must pass Relias EKG exam)
Additional Information
- Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- No on-call required
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Parking available with monthly passes (fees apply except for straight night shifts)
- Must adhere to facility vehicle registration and worker registration forms if applicable
- Candidates must provide government-issued ID and professional license primary source verification
- Candidates must upload a recent badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs
- Prior travel experience is not required
- Locals are not accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree
- Level I Trauma experience (2+ years)
- Orthopedic nursing experience
- Experience with trapeze, walker, traction, lifts, external fixation
