Job Opportunity: CT Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: New London, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 6 weeks (with possible extension)
Schedule
- Evenings: 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM
- Call and weekends required as needed
Facility Information
- Short term acute care, Level III trauma center
- 252 staffed beds
- Charting system: EPIC
- Part of a large health system
- Candidate will float between two hospitals in CT and RI
- Must obtain both Connecticut and Rhode Island state licenses (can start with whichever license is issued first)
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years hospital experience as CT Tech
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
- GE equipment experience required
- BLS certification required
- Can start without license in hand but must apply promptly
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- State Licenses: Connecticut and Rhode Island licenses required for CT Techs
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit-specific requirements)
Background Checks & Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (including foreign equivalency if applicable)
- Primary source verification of state licenses within 30 days of start
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties
- Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (titers or vaccines required)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccination preferred but not mandatory
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start
- Color blind testing required for all candidates (effective 8/2/2024)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required depending on unit
- Facility-specific training modules and attestations may be required prior to start (e.g., stroke education, patient care services orientation)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be prepared to float between two facilities and maintain licensure in two states
- Must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates in relevant units
- Various facility-specific compliance and training modules must be completed and attested before or shortly after start
