Job Description

  • Clinical review and auto offer process
  • Start date: 03/02
  • Must be a Certified Labor & Delivery (L&D) Technician
  • Must have OB (Obstetrics) experience
  • Must be NBSTA certified and have Virginia registration in hand
  • Rotating schedule: 6 weeks days followed by 6 weeks nights (subject to change based on staffing needs)
  • Work every other holiday
  • Can approve 40 hours for time off

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: NBSTA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
  • Virginia state registration/license for Certified OB Tech
  • OB experience required
  • Must meet all facility and state licensing requirements for Certified OB Tech

Certifications (may be required or preferred)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – as applicable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all clinical candidates except some exceptions
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – may be required or preferred
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit or specialty

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
  • HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
  • Education verification through a third-party vendor (official transcripts required)
  • Drug testing within 2 months of start, updated annually (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no exemptions allowed)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or follow-up testing)
    • Varicella vaccination or titer (declination accepted but required)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions or declinations accepted)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of professional appearance guidelines
  • Completion of various facility-specific forms prior to start (e.g., release authorization, TB screening, traveler compliance)
  • Fit testing for patient-facing roles (completed onsite if required)
  • Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation for adult inpatient and mother-baby units (not required for this role unless specified)
