Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
• Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Call Requirements: One 10-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday, either 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM). No weekday call.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive days. No RTO on holidays, the day before or after holidays, or weekends.
• Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs.
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in Orthopedics and Orthopedic Trauma
• Experience in Vascular Surgery
• Experience in Urology

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent)
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Required competency exams and training as per facility policy (medication test, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency if applicable)
• Facility-specific forms and rules of behavior must be completed

Additional Notes

• No pending licenses accepted
• Locals preferred but travel nurses accepted
• Mandatory floating to other units as needed within scope of practice
