Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 8:30 PM - 7:00 AM
- Call Requirements: One 10-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday, either 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM). No weekday call.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days, no more than 2 consecutive days. No RTO on holidays, the day before or after holidays, or weekends.
- Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs.
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in the Operating Room (OR)
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Strong scrub and circulate skills
- Experience in Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma, Vascular, Urology, General Surgery
- Preferred Experience: Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Gynecology
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
- Location Preference: Locals accepted, preferred to live within 75 miles of the facility
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
- Required competency exams and training as per facility policy (medication test, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency if applicable)
- Facility-specific forms and rules of behavior must be completed

- No pending licenses accepted
- Locals preferred but travel nurses accepted
- Mandatory floating to other units as needed within scope of practice
