Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Charlottesville, Virginia

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday; shifts are mids (36 or 48 hours)
  • Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience required
  • Must have at least 1 year level 1 or 2 years level 2 experience, including some pediatric experience

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) — can submit with TNCC pending but must have before start

License Requirements

  • Must have a valid Virginia RN license or be able to submit with VA license pending

Additional Requirements

  • Can approve up to 40 hours max for time off
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Compliance and Documentation

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and fingerprinting as applicable
  • Health documents including physical exam, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella), negative TB test or chest X-ray, drug testing, and flu vaccination
  • Facility-specific documents such as professional appearance guidelines, release authorization, TB screening, and traveler compliance forms
  • References and clinical evaluations as applicable

Notes

  • Official transcripts are required (photocopies of diplomas are not acceptable)
  • Education verification: BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN
  • Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if required
  • Some certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., CPI for Behavioral Health nurses)

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses with pediatric experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in Virginia.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Pediatric Emergency Room (ER) experience and experience working with pediatric patients
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • TNCC certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
