Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Decatur, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: ICU Registered Nurse with Cardiac or CVICU experience
Shift: Nights (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2 for 20 beds/rooms
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
First-time travelers: Accepted
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
On-call: Not required
Floating: May float within scope as needed
Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
Local Candidates: Accepted without radius restrictions
Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH certification

Required Skills and Experience

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKGs
Pre/Post cardiac catheterization/intervention care
Chronic and acute renal failure management

IV Therapy

Accessing ports
Arterial line management
Blood product administration
Central line and PICC line care/management
Starting IVs

Medication Management

Continuous IV sedation
Emergency medications
Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

Neurological Care

CVA (stroke) and acute stroke management

Respiratory/Thoracic Care

Assist with BiPAP and CPAP management
Care of ventilated patients
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) management
Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Suctioning (endotracheal tube and nasotracheal)
Ventilator management

Professional Topics and Skills

Infection prevention
Isolation precautions and use of PPE
Code blue and rapid response protocols

Licensing and Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, including experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Stroke management experience

Facility and Work Environment

Acute care hospital with Level II Trauma designation
372 staffed beds
Charting system: Cerner
Parking permit required (no cost)

Additional Requirements

Background checks and verifications as per state and facility policies
Physical exam within one year of start date
Fit mask testing required prior to start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Required immunizations or documented exemptions (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu)
Professional references and skills checklist required

Notes

Candidates may be called off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
Candidates may be required to provide a badge photo prior to start
Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by November 30th annually
