Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: 5x8 hour shifts, 12:00 PM – 10:30 PM (No block scheduling)
• Call Requirements: One 12-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), either 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM. No weekday call.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days. No holiday RTO, no RTO the day before or after a holiday, and no RTO on weekends.
• Floating: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs. All staff required to float at the facility’s discretion.
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of trauma experience, including experience with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Trauma experience within the last year
• Experience in Vascular Surgery and Urology
• Strong circulate skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Bystander Intervention Training Certificate

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with mandatory background checks and verifications including but not limited to:

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Health and immunization requirements including:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test annually (N95 or equivalent)
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B vaccination or titer documentation
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Competency exams and training as required (medication test, color blindness, dysrhythmia/EKG competency for applicable roles)
• Must complete facility-specific forms and comply with rules of behavior

• Charting system used: Cerner
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This role is ideal for experienced OR RNs with trauma and surgical specialty skills who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts.
