Registered Nurse - MedSurg Unit

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical (MSDU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
• Floating: Required
• Unit Description:
  Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - a critical care step-down unit providing specialized care to adult acute care patients requiring continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring. Patients may require airway management, acute BIPAP support, arterial lines, central lines, and titrated medicated IV infusions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a MedSurg/Step-Down (MSDU) Registered Nurse
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• TNCC certification
• EFM certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Ability to manage dysrhythmias
• Ability to use Rapid Response/Code teams

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check, including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year
• Documentation: Government-issued photo ID required
• References: 2 references within 3 years (for certain candidates)
• Employment Verification: Verification of at least 2 past employments required

• 26-bed Intermediate Care Unit
• Tertiary care hospital setting
• Multi-disciplinary team approach
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white

Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• Floating to other units required
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
